Bon Secours New Hospital Limerick

Bon Secours New Hospital, Limerick

Brady Shipman Martin provided landscape architecture across all external areas of this 96-bed, 23,050m² private hospital, the first large hospital to open in Ireland in almost 20 years. The project was delivered in collaboration with Reddy Architecture + Urbanism, HOK and PUNCH Consulting Engineers, with BSM appointed directly by Bon Secours Health System.

The landscape design encompasses courtyard gardens, roof gardens accessible from inpatient floors, car parking and all external grounds. A planting palette of 350 semi-mature trees and biodiverse ground planting was selected to support ecological connectivity and provide amenity for patients, staff and visitors. SuDS infrastructure throughout the site includes biofiltration planters, swales and filter drains, managing surface water while contributing to the planting character of the external environment.

The hospital has received national recognition including Architectural Project of the Year and Healthcare Project of the Year at the 2026 Irish Building and Design Awards.
